If A Vehicle Cant Be Aligned It Comes To Centerline
Recently, a true Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) icon arrived at our shop: a 1996 Mazda RX-7 FD. This twin-turbocharged rotary masterpiece had sustained some prior damage that wasn't properly repaired. Its owner, a discerning enthusiast, entrusted us with the task of using our frame rack to meticulously restore this one-of-a-kind treasure to its original condition.
The RX-7's history with a right front impact meant it needed some quality time on our frame rack. Our technicians began by meticulously adjusting the doors and making precise pulls on the front end. This delicate process involved crossjacking the door opening to achieve proper alignment, followed by pulling the front cowl forward to ensure a seamless fit. Once the door gaps were perfect, we turned our attention to the core support and headlight mounting areas, ensuring everything was back to factory specifications.
The final phase focused on restoring the car's body lines. With careful pulls and expert technique, we achieved the desired gaps, bringing back the RX-7's legendary sleekness.
A Timeless Design and Innovative Engineering
The Mazda RX-7 FD, produced from 1991 to 2002, is a legendary sports car revered for its unique rotary engine and innovative engineering. This particular model boasts a 13B-REW engine, the world's first mass-produced sequential twin-turbocharger system. This ingenious system delivers smooth, exhilarating power throughout the rev range.
The RX-7 FD's design is as timeless as its performance. The winning concept, born from a global Mazda design competition, resulted in a car that's both elegant and aerodynamically optimized.
The Journey Continues
Here at our shop, we're passionate about restoring classic cars to their former glory. This 1996 RX-7 FD is a prime example, and we're dedicated to using our expertise to bring it back to its pristine state. Stay tuned for future updates.
